To migrate your geocities website to uCoz you have to create an empty uCoz website.

Follow the next 8 steps for this purpose.

STEP 1. Follow this link. Fill in the sign up form: "E-mail", "Password", "Name", "Last Name", "Nickname", "Date of birth", "Gender", "Location", "Security code". You should also review and agree to the Terms of Use and click "Registration" button.

STEP 2. Sign in to your e-mail account and follow the confirmation link received from uNet e-mail.

STEP 3. You will be sent to Webtop (Web Desktop). Fill in the Webtop sign up fields: "Webtop password", "Secret question" and "Answer"(you must remember them, it is important), and the current uNet password (the password you have entered in "Step 1"). Click "Save" button.

STEP 4. On the Webtop page find "Create a Website" button and double-click it. Enter the desired website address and click "Continue" button. You will be notified that your website has been successfully created. Then click "Website Control Panel" button.

STEP 5. Make the initial configurations of your site. Fill in the "Site name", "Site Language" fields and select "Site design" from the gallery of predefined designs. Then click "Continue" button.

STEP 6. Select the necessary modules by means of checking the corresponding boxes. I advise you to begin with just a blog module. Then, as usual, click "Continue" button. And you will be redirected to the control panel of your new created website.

STEP 7. In the top menu bar select "Settings"->"Common Settings". Find the option "When opening the main page redirect to" and select "Blog" on the drop-down list. You can select any other module for redirection, e.g. forum, if you have activated the forum module in "Step 6".

STEP 8. Congratulations! You have just created your own website for free! From this moment it is accessible by your "website address" all over the world. Start filling your website with content to attract visitors. Soon you will be supplied with more guidelines.

Check the following screencast and learn how to create a website.

Go to http://ucoz.com

You enter Administrator's Password in step 1 when you create a new website with uCoz.

So you can use it for the geocities migration script. Enter the password in the field "Administrator Password"

First of all you have to set FTP Login and Password in Admin Panel of your new site. To access Admin Panel, type in the navigation bar of your browser something like http://yoursitename.ucoz.com/admin where 'yoursitename.ucoz.com' is the address of your new site.

To set the password in the admin panel choose "FTP Details":

Here you get FTP login.

Then follow the link "Password not set" and set the password

If you want your website to look the same as it was at GeoCities, then use the following algorithm:

Transfer of pages

1. Copy the source text of a geoCities page to the clipboard (ctrl + c)
2. Paste the code from the clipboard in uCoz page editor (ctrl + v)

In such a way you can transfer all pages of your GeoCities website.

To finish the procedure we need to move files and images to uCoz. To do this follow the steps below:

1. Save files to the local disc
2. Upload files to the website via uCoz file manager.

Change links in page editor. E.g. we need to change
Code
<img src="http://geocities.com/myoldsite/image.jpg"/>
into
Code
<img src="http://mysite.ucoz.com/image.jpg"/>

The described algorithm will help you transfer your website from GeoCities to uCoz with little effort and almost with the same appearance it had at GeoCities.

But you need to know that uCoz features are far ahead of GeoCities features. By the way that is why it is not being closed. Now your website can have a forum, a blog, e-mail forms and many other features.
